The Toronto Maple Leafs signed goalie Martin Jones on Wednesday.
The 33-year veteran signed a one-year contract worth $875,000. He will wear the colors of a fifth National Hockey League formation that has defended the nets of the Los Angeles Kings, San Jose Sharks, Philadelphia Flyers and Seattle Kraken.

Last year, in 48 games with the Kraken, Jones had a record of 27-13-3, a save percentage of .887 and an average of 2.95 goals against.
The hiring was announced two weeks after the Maple Leafs put goaltender Matt Murray on the long-term injured list. The Queen City organization had not disclosed their athlete’s problem. However, the 29-year-old apparently suffered a concussion during a game against the Detroit Red Wings in April.
Murray didn’t play in the final games of the regular season or the playoffs. It was Ilya Samsonov – who recently signed a one-year contract following the arbitration proceedings – and Joseph Woll who played at the net for the Leafs during the playoffs.
