To everyone’s surprise, the Arizona Coyotes defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 1-0 in a shootout Wednesday at Mullett Arena. And hosts have Connor Ingram to thank.

The 25-year-old goaltender, who was acquired from the Nashville Predators on waivers earlier in the season, signed the first shutout of his career with 47 saves. Ironically, it was the Lightning who drafted the 2016 Saskatoon native in the third round.
The “Bolts” were muzzled in their five massive attack situations. After 40 minutes of play, they had no less than 37 shots aimed at the “Yotes” cage.
At the beginning of today’s duel, Ingram stood as a replacement for Karel Vejmelka with 3-11-3 and a save percentage of 0.907.
In the shootout, Steven Stamkos and Nick Schmaltz threaded the needle in the first round. A terrific maneuver by Clayton Keller allowed the surprising Coyotes to win.
They will be looking for a fifth win in eight games against the Kings in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Lightning saw their three-game winning streak come to an end. He will resume the collar against the Golden Knights on Saturday in Vegas.
