Ana Obregón publishes a heartfelt message to her late son: "I promised you that I would give birth to your daughter and here she is in my arms"

(CNN Spanish) — Actress Ana Obregón this Wednesday shared a heartfelt message dedicated to her son Aless Lequio, who died years ago from cancer, after HOLA! will publish an interview in which the Spaniard introduces the baby she recently had in Miami as her granddaughter, Lequio’s daughter, through surrogacy.

“I swore I would save you from cancer and I let you down. I promised I would give birth to your daughter and here I have her in my arms. When I hug her, I feel one indescribable emotion because it’s like I hugged you again. I swear that I will take care of the infinite love that I have to give and you will help me from heaven,” wrote Obregón on his verified Instagram -Account where he shares the cover of the magazine.

In HOLA! Obregón said that the “baby Anita” he is in Miami with is “the daughter of Aless.” Here’s how he explained the situation: “When my son was diagnosed with cancer and was about to start chemotherapy, doctors recommended that he keep samples of his semen in case the drugs affected him in the future, to make sure he could have children .”

According to the publication, Obregón said that his son’s last wish is to have children and that his goal is to make that wish come true. “That’s what he told his father and me a week before he died. This is called a “holographic will” and occurs when a person makes their last will in front of two witnesses, although for whatever reason the notary cannot be present. But this document exists and is legal,” he said. According to the magazine, despite the situation, the baby “is legally her daughter and she puts it on her passport that way.”

On Instagram, Obregón explained that in a few weeks a book called El chico de las musarañas, which her son started and continued, will go on sale and that the profits as the author will go to the cancer research of the son’s foundation. “In this work, I explain the full hurricane of feelings of a mother before losing a child and the long road to attaining that blessing and miracle of baby Anita, who is your daughter,” he said in the message.

What is surrogacy?

Surrogacy is a process in which a woman carries a baby in her womb created from an embryo “with donated sperm that fertilizes the surrogate’s eggs or a donor’s eggs,” according to the National Institutes of Surrogacy in the United States states health. “The embryo is implanted in the uterus of the surrogate, who continues the pregnancy until the baby is born.”
