Sienna Miller sees her life turned upside down when her on-screen husband is accused of rape in the new Netflix drama Anatomy of a Scandal.
Based on the novel of the same name by Sarah Vaughan, the series follows Sophie Whitehouse (Sienna) and her husband James (Rupert Friend), a minister accused of sexually abusing a young political aide named Olivia (Naomi Scott).
The six-part series focuses on the trial and his attempts to prove her innocence as Sophie struggles to understand that her husband may not be the man she thought he was.

The trailer opens with James speaking off-screen, “It didn’t mean anything. It was just sex.”
Sienna’s character can then be seen saying, “No sex. There is something else. You’re not just talking to me to tell me.
Then, sitting at home, he warns her, “The story is about to break out.”
When the media covers the couple’s life, Sophie blames herself, saying, “Sometimes I think I’m partly to blame. I let things slide. All I care about is fixing it.”

However, QC Kate Woodcraft (Michelle Dockery) is equally convinced of his guilt.
During the trial, she says, “James Whitehouse’s privilege does not extend to rape.”
Secret: James is seen flirting with Olivia when she asks him, “Won’t your wife wonder where you are?” He replies, “She trusts me.”
Charge: During the trial, James yells, “The word ‘rape’ and my name have nothing to do with each other.”
Losing his composure, James yells, “The word ‘rape’ and my name have nothing to do with each other.”
Kate replies, “I have no more questions for this witness.”
The project is being produced by David E. Kelly of Big Little Lies.
The series is expected to focus on a different political scandal each season in an anthology style similar to the BBC’s “A Very English Scandal” according to Deadline.

Most recently, Michelle was seen in the AppleTV+ series Defending Jacob alongside Chris Evans, where she played a mother accused of killing her 14-year-old son.
Sienna starred in the 2020 drama film Dark Rides, and a year earlier, she appeared as Roger Ailes’ wife Beth in the miniseries The Loudest Voice.
Rupert was last seen on the CBS All Access series Strange Angel, which closed in November 2019, and also starred on the Showtime series Homeland until 2018.
