And Just Like That… was renewed for a third season on Tuesday – but fans slammed the decision to film more episodes of the “absolutely horrific” reboot of Sex and the City.
The revival show stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, while Samantha Jones actress Kim Cattrall will make a shock cameo in the season 2 finale after years of feuding with SJP had.
Supporting characters like Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez), who memorably had an affair with married Miranda Hobbes, drew widespread criticism, and fans begged the writers to kill off the non-binary comedian next season.
One fan wrote on Instagram: “Write Che off!” I know they’re embarking on a new love, but we have NO interest in continuing this.
Another wrote: “Please remove Che from the series.” You are an insufferable asshole. We’re done. Thank you very much.
Oh dear: And Just Like That… was renewed for a third season on Tuesday – but fans slammed the decision to film more episodes of the “absolutely horrible” reboot of ‘Sex and the City’ (pictured Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw).

Others wrote, “Please let Che’s story flow.” I don’t know how, but the writers managed to make her even more unlikable this season.
“PLEASE NO CHE! We all thought she was going to ruin the franchise! STOP, it feels so wrong! NO CHE”, “Ditch Che.” Please” and “Everybody Hates Che.”
Viewers also shaped the show’s storylines, prompting the show’s creator Michael Patrick King to step down.
One fan typed, “I was the ultimate SATC fan.” Watched each episode 10 times. Loved the first movie. Since then, the show hasn’t known how to just end gracefully. It gets worse from episode to episode and I can’t believe the storylines are still being dragged out.
Another wrote, “This show is THE WORST.” I’ve seen better Hallmark Christmas movies than this series.
Others wrote, ‘As a huge fan of SATC, AJLT was running out of ideas.’ It’s so bad: ‘Let’s face it the show is absolutely awful’ and ‘This season was rubbish!’ PLEASE FIND BETTER WRITERS.’
Another wrote: “They need better writers and get rid of MPK.” He thinks he knows everything. As a longtime SATC fan, the lyrics and story were awful. Get back to basics. A small group of friends and their lives, no supporting characters for supporting characters. And no more “comedians”.
Some fans praised the decision to renew the show, with one writing, “This season really feels like they’ve gotten their groove” and “YES!!!!” Season 2 was excellent!

In a statement announcing the extension, Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content at Max, said: “As we move closer to Thursday’s highly anticipated season finale, we’re upping our cosmos [showrunner] “Michael Patrick King and his amazing team of writers, producers, cast and crew continue to delight us with vibrant friendships and compelling stories 25 years later.”
Aubrey added, “We can’t wait for viewers to see where season three will take our favorite New Yorkers.”
The revival show features original stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, David Eigenberg, Mario Cantone and many more.
Meanwhile, showrunner Michael Patrick King said, “We’re excited to be spending more time in the Sex and the City universe and telling new stories about the lives of these sympathetic and ambitious characters, played by these amazing actors.”
Fans of the original Sex and the City have a love-hate relationship with the reboot that Cattrall’s sex-positive PR guru Samantha Jones sorely misses.
In her absence, Dr. Nya Wallace (Karen Pittman), Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury) and Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) introduced numerous new characters.
Backlash: Fans announced the show in droves on social media
Some fans praised the decision to renew the show, with one writing, “This season really feels like they’ve gotten their groove” and “YES!!!!” Season 2 was excellent!
However, viewers were stunned to learn earlier this year that despite being vocal about her desire to break away from the character Samantha, Cattrall had secretly agreed to return in a surprise cameo.
“It’s very interesting to get a call from the head of HBO saying, ‘What can we do?'” Cattrall told The View in June, before adding with a cheeky smile, “And I was like, ‘Hmmm… let’s get creative.”
Cattrall’s rider was pretty simple (aside from an undoubtedly stunning paycheck): she wanted original costume designer Patricia Field to dress her for the scene.
Cattrall will only return for a “Cliffhanger” scene, which she filmed in New York City on March 22 without seeing or speaking to stars SJP, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. The scene was also filmed without AJLT showrunner Michael Patrick King.
In the scene, Samantha, who has moved to London, is set to have a phone conversation with Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw.
The New York Post also revealed that Cattrall’s performance was so secret that her name didn’t even appear on the day’s call sheet, leaving people stunned by her presence.

Phenomenon: AJLT saw Carrie claim Samantha cut her off and moved to London – out of anger that the writer fired her as a publicist – in a story arc that Cattrall criticized for not being authentic to the character
An insider said the show’s staff are “definitely shocked, very excited to see how they’re going to write this — and very excited.” She said she never would! She said she would never come back!’
It was claimed their scene was filmed in a town car in a parking garage near Silvercup Studios in Queens.
Samantha starred in season one of AJLT – albeit only via text message as Carrie repeatedly tried to rekindle their friendship.
