Anderson Daronco will referee Sporting Cristal’s Copa Libertadores game against Nacional

The recalled Brazilian referee of Peru vs Uruguay by Qualifier will be in charge of bringing justice to the Celestials in the first leg of Stage 2 of the tournament.

Full of illusions for their debut in this Copa Libertadores 2023, the squad of Sporting Crystal traveled to Asunción, Paraguay this Sunday where they will play Nacional in the first leg of Stage 2 of the continental tournament. The team from Rimá already know when, what time and in which stadium the game will take place, and they also recently learned that the referee of this duel will be the Brazilian Anderson Daronco, a name that will be remembered not fondly remembered by Peruvian fans for his role during a Bicolor match in recent South American qualifiers.

The FIFA judge became the protagonist in the match between Peru and Uruguay in Montevideo because of the alleged last-minute goal that was not scored in favor of the Blanquirroja. The game in question was a middle-range shot by Miguel Trauco, which Uruguayan goalkeeper Sergio Rochet appeared to save after the ball had already crossed the goal line.

Despite the controversy, the VAR did not call Daronco for advice, for which the Inca players complained to the referee for showing no intention of wanting to review the action to clear the doubts. In the end, however, the TV broadcast showed that the ball did not reach the goal.

Despite everything, the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) denounced the referee before FIFA, although it was not known that the body had imposed a sanction despite not having selected him for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
