This isn't particularly surprising, as reports have suggested for weeks that Andrade El Ídolo will likely leave AEW when his contract ends and return to WWE. Just yesterday we heard that WWE wanted exactly that from Andrade.
However, not many expected it to happen so soon.
A Report from Wrestle Purists says Andrade's AEW exit will occur after Worlds End tonight (December 30) and that he could be back in WWE as early as Monday:
According to sources at WrestlePurists, Andrade El Idolo is expected by many in AEW to call it quits on the company tonight at World's End.
Many at AEW also believe he will return to WWE. Some believe this could happen as early as Day 1 RAW.
A WWE source we spoke to is aware of the rumors surrounding Andrade and expects him to join the company soon.
A report from Fightful Select said that while their WWE sources believed Andrade's deal wouldn't go through until the spring, “many we spoke to at AEW expected his deal to go through soon.” ” Fightful also claims that Charlotte Flair's husband “made it clear last Wednesday on AEW Dynamite that he no longer wants to be with the company and plans to leave the company.”
Additionally, they heard that the situation between Andrade and the company was “not exactly pleasant.”
Andrade faces Miro tonight at the Long Island PPV. We'll see how that goes and if we see him on the first episode of Raw in a few days.
