Former Paquita Andrea Veiga recalled an episode that led to revolts with presenter Xuxa Meneghel in the late 1980s.
“The one who came out dressed as Paquita on the cover was the Paquita that was never a Paquita, Luciana Vendramini. She auditioned but never became a Paquita. She put on her uniform one day to do a show with us. marlene [Mattos, diretora] tested the girls who record the show and do shows to see how they handle the stage,” she said.
However, Luciana was never hired. When she failed the test, she was already a model and ‘Playboy’ wanted her on the cover. Xuxa didn’t like that at all.”
Luciana’s essay took place in 1987, a year before Andreas. By the time he undressed, Andrea had already given up the job of stage assistant for Xuxa.
“When I became Paquita, both Xuxa and Marlene knew that I wanted to be an actress, that being Paquita was just a ticket for me. When I was about to turn 18, with other 11, 12yearold girls arriving,” she explained.
“I sat down with Marlene and said that it wasn’t enough for me anymore. I left fine, went to São Paulo and ‘Playboy’ called me,” said Andrea, who had parental permission to take the test.
