Andrew Garfield QUITS acting to be ‘normal for a while’: Spider-Man star says he ‘needs to rest and reconsider who he wants to be’
Andrew Garfield has decided to take a break from his busy career.
In a new interview with Variety, the 38-year-old The Eyes of Tammy Faye star announced he was retiring from acting to “get a little rest” and “be a little ordinary.”
The actor, who had several high-profile projects in 2021, confessed, “I need to recalibrate and rethink what I want to do next and who I want to be and just be a little bit of a person for a while.”

The tick, tick… boom! star also likened awards season to a churning “washing machine,” saying, “That’s a washing machine, awards season.”
The Los Angeles native was spotted in New York on Wednesday, looking dapper as ever in a navy shirt, matching pants and white sneakers.
The Spider-Man: No Way Home actor had his hair carefully styled with gel and wore brown tinted sunglasses.

Garfield has had a fairly busy schedule over the past year and recently received his second Oscar nomination for his work in Tick, Tick…Boom!
He also recently reprized his superhero role in Spider-Man No Way Home and received critical acclaim for his portrayal of controversial American televangelist Jim Bakker opposite Jessica Chastain in The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
The actor will now star in the upcoming true crime drama Under the Banner of Heaven, an FX series adaptation of Jon Krakauer’s 2003 book of the same name.

In the series, Garfield plays Jeb Pyre, a Mormon detective who investigates a double homicide committed by adherents of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
During his investigation, he begins to question his faith after learning of the murder’s ties to the LDS Church.
The series was written by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, directed by David Mackenzie, and stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Sam Worthington.
Long year: It’s been a busy year for Garfield, who received critical acclaim for his recent portrayal of American televangelist Jim Bakker opposite Jessica Chastain in ‘The Eyes of Tammy Faye.’
Garfield mentioned that he had to take breaks from the show’s heavy subject matter during filming.
“I think it was actually a necessity for us to have game nights and go out into nature and hike and swim and dive and lakes and dance and eat good food so we really come back and feel wholeheartedly can indulge [to the work]. We had to continue to take care of ourselves so that we could take care of the story.
Under the Banner of Heaven will premiere on Hulu with the first two episodes on Thursday, April 28, and new episodes will be available to stream every Thursday.
Garfield was next set to star in a BBC adaptation of Brideshead Revisited, starring Cate Blanchett, Ralph Fiennes and Rooney Mara, but series director Luca Guadagnino announced earlier this week that the project was “on hold”.
