What’s new in Android 14 Beta 2?
This second beta brings new features and improvements. First, there is an Ultra HDR format that supports 10-bit HDR images and makes them compatible in JPEG. According to Google, this new feature “enables applications to seamlessly interact with HDR images and display them in standard dynamic range when needed,” the Android blog post reads. The photo is improved on another point: the processing time, which can be longer in applications that take photos, “allowing for improved images with computationally intensive algorithms such as low-light photography”.

Beta 2 also supports exercise routes in Health Connect, the Android API that allows you to sync your health data between multiple dedicated services and applications. This makes it possible to link these workouts to health data: steps, heart rate, etc.

Another change: when an application shares our location data with a third party, we are notified via a dialog box that opens after we authorize the application in question to track our location. Android states that “other app stores may also provide a mechanism for submitting this information”. In the event that an application changes its data sharing practices, the user will be notified via a notification.
The continuation of the development of this latest Android version
Who says second beta does not say that it is a stable Android version and that the developers recognize it. The first stable release of Android 14 is planned for June 2023. This is the time to seek feedback on the behavior of the operating system and applications, especially thanks to the fact that more devices are using it.
