Andy Cohen says he was scammed out of “a lot of money” by a scammer who got hold of his bank account details

Andy Cohen revealed he was conned out of “a lot of money” after a fraudster tricked him into giving up his personal details.

The 55-year-old “Watch What Happens Live” host said he received a call about possible fraud on his bank account and he gave out his information because he believed it was related to a debit card he had recently lost .

“Someone called and said my bank got a fraud alert,” he said on an episode of his Daddy Diaries podcast last week.

“Then [they] I asked for my Apple ID and password. And I thought, 'Okay, that's never happening,'” Cohen continued.

By the time he “got out,” the scammers already had the information they needed.

“I had already logged into my banking app and I believe that by logging in through that website they somehow gained access to my banking app,” he explained.

The “New Year's Eve Live” host also noted that the scammers had hacked the caller ID system so that Cohen's bank name appeared when they called him.

“They called the credits I made — the debits — because they obviously had access to my account,” he recalled.

“I should have said, 'Can I call you back?' Or maybe I should have said, 'I'll go to my bank and take care of it.'”

Cohen spoke to the hackers on the phone for “an hour and ten minutes” and later saw “these people being transferred from two accounts that I have a lot of money.”

They had also – unknowingly – tricked Cohen into setting up call forwarding so that he never received calls from his bank inquiring about the large amount of the transfers.

“Part of my advice to people is that if anything happens, they should just contact their bank branch,” he added.

“And when you receive emails, look closely at the email address. It might say the name of your bank, but click on the name and the email address will pop up and you'll see it's another random address.”
