Angel Olsen announces new album Big Time and shares lead single All The Good Times

Angel Olsen announced that her new album “Big Time” will be released on June 3rd via Jagjaguwar. Along with the LP announcement, the American singer-songwriter and musician shared the project’s lead single, “All The Good Times,” with an accompanying music video.
The video was directed by Kimberly Stuckwisch and stars Olsen and her partner. Stuckwisch commented in a press release: “Angel’s story is a gift. It allowed me to visually explore the universal themes of love, loss and most importantly what keeps us from seeing our true selves.”
Big Time began as a project about the expansive power of love and was written when Olsen came out as queer and was experiencing her first experiences of queer love and heartbreak. However, the project’s bright overtones are overlaid with a deep sense of loss. During the process of coming out and accepting herself, Olsen lost both of her parents in quick succession. Just three weeks after her mother’s funeral, she was in the studio recording a deeply introspective and tender new album.
“All the Good Times” nods to JJ Cale and kicks off the album on a happy note. “I can’t say I’m sorry / if I don’t feel so wrong anymore,” she sings, more gently and honestly than ever.
Big Time was recorded and mixed with co-producer Jonathan Wilson at Fivestar Studios in Topanga, California. Multi-instrumentalist Drew Erickson plays piano, organ and handled string arrangements, and Olsen’s longtime bandmate Emily Elhaj handled bass throughout the project.
Later this summer, Olsen will embark on The Wild Hearts tour with Sharon Van Etten, Julien Baker and Spencer.
