According to Angolan National Police Commander General Armando Carlos, 17,902 people were injured in accidents on public roads last year.
In 2022, 13,360 traffic accidents were recorded in Angola, resulting in a total of 15,693 injuries.
On this issue, on November 19, Vice President Esperança da Costa stressed the urgency of working together to curb this growing trend.

The priority of the executive branch is to work on reducing traffic accidents based on the National Road Planning and Transport Plan 2023-2027 and to continuously intervene in signage, rehabilitation, infrastructure construction and increasing technical control capacities. of traffic, he emphasized.
However, he stressed the need for joint action by all living forces of the country, especially the family and the community, to take preventive measures and reverse the current scenario characterized by high rates of accidents, deaths, maiming and property damage.
In Angola, traffic accidents are the second most common cause of death and are therefore a social, health and economic problem.
