Angry at the driver who grabbed her teenagers

Parents are outraged by a driver who fled the scene after hitting two teenagers as they crossed a street corner in Montreal last Friday.

“Accidents happen, but no matter what happens, you don’t just leave people without helping them,” Karla Diaz plagues.

His son Jayson Guzman was crossing a pedestrian crossing with his friend Lukha Khvan when a car hit them head-on as they turned at the corner of Rue Hochelaga and Boulevard Pie-IX in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood. The two gym students returned from baseball practice early in the evening.

Jayson Guzman’s leg injury.

“I was hit in the leg, in the knee,” says Jayson, showing his wound is still laced with blood. The car stopped a little further. We went around the corner to see if my leg was ok. And when we turned around, the car was already gone. »

Avoided the worst

The teenagers couldn’t believe their eyes: “It just doesn’t happen,” says Lukha bluntly.

During the collision, he had the reflex to fire and catch up with his friend Jayson, which they say likely avoided a much more severe shock.

“Fortunately there were no serious consequences. Still, we were offended by the driver’s behavior,” says Jayson’s father, Renso Guzman.

Her 15-year-old son still had to undergo numerous tests in the hospital. For his part, Lukha, 14, was very slightly injured in his hand.

“That has to stop”

This has shocked parents, especially since the hit-and-run came just under two weeks after the death of a 7-year-old Ukrainian girl when she was hit by a car on her way to school in Montreal. .

The driver, who had also fled, finally turned himself in to the police on the same day.

“This has to stop,” demands Mr. Guzman.

“It’s the least we can do to help. Especially when it comes to young people. Hit and run is a serious crime, it’s incomprehensible,” added Chau Ngan Tran Cao, Lukha’s mother.

Montreal Police are investigating the incident.

So far, no suspicious vehicle has been identified, said spokesman Julien Lévesque.
