Angry Danger! Fans say they won’t be watching the show again after major changes in the new season
- Showrunner Michael Davies says changes are needed to keep the show running
- He thinks it’s “fair,” but people on Twitter have vowed to boycott the show
Danger! is making some big changes for the show’s new season — and fans aren’t happy.
Showrunner Michael Davies stated on an episode of Inside Jeopardy! that with no end in sight to the Writers Guild strike, the switches are necessary to keep the show going into its 40th season.
Viewers can look forward to recycled questions, returning players and increased minimum wins.
Davies also confirmed that the season premiere would “feature a second chance tournament for Season 37 players who lost their first game.”
He said he believed the compromise was “fair,” but people on Twitter vowed to boycott the show in protest.
Champion: Amy Schneider was the 2022 Tournament of Champions winner after defeating Season 38 winner Andre He and Professors Tournament champion Sam Buttrey
James Holzhauer is a former Tournament of Champions winner who has since competed for other titles including the Jeopardy! master
Former Danger! Contestant James Holzhauer led the outrage, saying, ‘I’m going to stop watching Jeopardy.’ (Really, just show encores from Tournaments of Champions. When the strike ends, restart production.)’
“Think of the second-rate experience these ‘Scab’ candidates will have. Recycled Notes. “Stars next to victories,” scolded another viewer.
One fan said, “I’m not going to watch it without the actual writers.”
While another said, ‘Well…I’m turning off my DVR while I’m writing this.’ Alex would never do that for so long.’
Another called for broadcasts to be repeated until the strike was over to “support the writers”.
The new episodes were announced despite the WGA strike that has paralyzed Hollywood and the television industry.
Jennings will continue to host, but colleague Mayim Bialik has decided to step down and support the writers.
Neither Jennings nor Bialik have commented on the changes.
The clues will be a combination of material written before the WGA strike and recycled material from previous seasons.
If you don’t have time to listen, here’s the recap of today’s announcement:
