Netizens have entered a massive debate over bacon’s packaging after one woman called it “the worst thing ever” for failing to be released, prompting other bacon lovers to chime in and express their outrage.
Kat Thomas, of Los Angeles, Calif., said what everyone has been thinking for years when she filed a complaint against bacon wrappers — specifically Oscar Mayer bacon wrappers — because once she opened the wrapper, she had no choice but either use each piece or store elsewhere.
And when she declared that she was “sick and tired” of the “inconveniences” that come with bacon’s packaging, her words resonated around the internet, sparking an angry discussion about the beloved breakfast food.

Does bacon packaging need to change?
The marketing consultant shared her frustration in a viral video titled “Bacon wrappers are the worst thing ever,” which was viewed more than 300,000 times.
“This is news for Oscar Mayer because now we have beef. I’m tired of being bothered with your packaging every time I buy bacon.
“Why is it so difficult for you to zip the packaging so I can reseal it when I’m done?
“I’m not going to do the whole pack. I don’t have a family of 16,” she said, before adding that it’s just her and her dog, so all she needs is “two pieces” of bacon.
After Kat found that once the packaging was opened, it couldn’t be resealed, Kat adds that her bacon is now “exposed to the elements” and “is at risk of becoming hard and crispy.”
“Now I have to get a Ziploc bag and I have to put my bacon in a Ziploc bag to keep it safe.” she said before diving into the price of the breakfast meal.
After noting that the packaging cannot be resealed once opened, Kat adds that her bacon is now “exposed to the elements” and “is at risk of becoming hard and crispy.”
Kat noted that the price of bacon has been rising for years, which is true according to the December CPI

“Now I have to pay extra… for what? Not convenience, I know so much’
‘Fix that! Immediately,” she asked the bacon manufacturers at the end of her video.
Reactions to her video flooded, and many users stood united in their hatred of bacon wrappers.
“I’ve never agreed on anything so much omg,” wrote one user.
While other users said her tirade was “all facts” and that Kat was so “valid” and “correct” before adding that “everyone” has “questioned” bacon wraps, no one seems to have an answer.
A user shared Kat’s video with Twittercausing thousands of users to “demand” a fix.
One user even joked that the “Ziplock bag company and the bacon company are in cahoots.”

As for Kat, she’s still on a mission to change packaging for the better and has added that no company is “safe” as she even spoke about cereal packaging in her latest TikTok
Speaking to Today, Kat revealed that she decided to share her frustration with her 28,000+ followers when she realized she didn’t have any Ziploc bags when she went to prepare her breakfast in the morning.
She then realized that “something needed to be said” and decided to “message Oscar Mayer” to convince her to “change the packaging.”
Oscar Mayer has yet to address the demands of bacon lovers around the world, but spokespeople for major bacon makers Smithfield and Applegate shared their thoughts with Today.
Jim Monroe, Smithfield’s vice president of corporate affairs, noted that people have “a passion for bacon,” adding that the company is constantly striving to “improve packaging.”
Monroe added that they are even “preparing to launch an easier-to-open format” and will do their best to cater to their customers’ needs to give them the “best possible bacon experience.”
Gina Gancheva, Applegate’s director of brand management, meanwhile, noted that the company sees no need for a reseal feature since their consumers prepare the bacon “in one cooking session” as their bacon is sold in smaller packs.
Bacon wraps are still getting a bout of users as many of them continue to respond to Kat’s viral video
She told Today they were investigating larger packs of bacon and found that the larger packs “might justify adding a resealable feature on these bacon items.”
As for Kat, she’s still on a mission to change packaging for the better and has added that no company is “safe” as she even spoke about cereal packaging in her latest TikTok video, urging cereal company General Mills to repair its packaging as well.

“I felt that spiritually,” said one user.
