This Saturday (3) singer Anitta announced to the press that she has been diagnosed with the EpsteinBarr virus (EBV), which can cause multiple sclerosis.

The statement was made during the documentary the artist was producing, titled Eu, directed by Ludmila Dayer.

In this production, Ludmila tells how she discovered sclerosis and how she found a way to deal with the chronic, incurable neurological disease caused by inflammatory and degenerative mechanisms affecting the central nervous system.

Anitta said she would never have discovered this virus without this friend’s guidance. Having many similar symptoms to Ludmila, the singer decided to undergo tests.

When the results came in, I had the same virus as Ludmila in the initial stages. Nowadays there is no coincidence. Fortunately, through fate, I managed not to reach the stage that Ludmila did (…) She was a blessing in my life she reveals.

EpsteinBarr (EBV) is a common virus, mostly affecting young people between the ages of 15 and 25, and it causes mononucleosis, also known as kissing fever.

Transmitted by direct contact with saliva (hence the name kissing fever), the virus can also be spread through contact with contaminated objects and through blood transfusions.

What science has found about this virus is that people who have not been infected with it almost never develop multiple sclerosis.
