Announce Modernization of Family Reunification Program for Cuba and Haiti

CubitaNOW Newsroom ~ Thursday, May 25, 2023

The US Department of Homeland Security announced a modernization of the family reunification program for Cuba and Haiti.

Reportedly, the family reunification processes for these countries “when completed, will allow entry into the United States on a temporary residency basis on an individual basis for individuals with already approved family applications.”

In a statement from the US Embassy in Cuba, applicants were asked to update their contact information in light of the streamlining of processes.

“If you are an applicant with a pending CFRP application, please ensure USCIS has your current contact information. To update your address with USCIS, please use the online change of address tool.

“For more information, please visit our website: USCIS Resumes Operation of Cuban Family Reunification Probation Program – U.S. Embassy in Cuba,” they added.

Meanwhile, hundreds of Cubans are waiting to benefit from the humanitarian parole program announced by the Biden administration last January.

It was announced this week that more than 380,000 applications for economic sponsorship for Cubans await consideration.

Data obtained by the CBS chain up to the end of April suggests that the number of pending cases is overwhelming, which has overloaded the case-processing system and cast serious doubts on the viability of the immigration program.

According to documents leaked by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and disclosed by CBS, by the end of April more than 1.5 million petitions had been received under the Humanitarian Parole Program for Cubans, Venezuelans, Nicaraguans and Haitians, initiated on Jan. 6 last year.
