Major League Baseball Shohei Ohtani meets his hero

Another honor for Shohei Ohtani

Shohei Ohtani was named Major League Baseball’s 2023 designated hitter of the year on Thursday.

This is the third consecutive season that the Japanese star player has received this honor. Only David Ortiz performed better, receiving this award five times in a row between 2003 and 2007.

Ohtani, who played for the Los Angeles Angels this year, also received the prestigious title of American League MVP in 2023.

In 497 plate appearances this season, the 29-year-old batted .304 and had 151 hits, including 44 home runs. He also scored 95 points and scored 102 points. He achieved this statistic despite missing most of September due to injury.

Ohtani is currently a free agent and many consider him to be the most prominent free agent in Major League Baseball history. The player, also a pitcher, recently underwent elbow surgery and will not be able to play as a shooter for several months. However, he should be able to fulfill his duties as a hitter upon his return to the major leagues.
