HBO’s penchant for hidden inaugural seasons in hopes of getting new shows in this coveted “Best of a Limited Series” may have helped Big Little Lies, but it won’t work forever. Let it be known, The Flight Attendant is no longer the limited series it was when the show premiered in 2020.

The network took a double step on that front by launching Mare Of Easttown as a limited series and announcing a second season of The Flight Attendant, making it fit for the mainstream categories. “Stewardess” received five nominations in the main TV series categories at the 2021 Emmys.

Now the show is gearing up to launch its second season and it has a new trailer to prove it.

Here is the HBO season 2 logline:

Cassie Bowden (Cuoco) is living her best sober life in Los Angeles and moonlighting as a CIA agent in her spare time. But when an overseas business trip leads her to accidentally witness a murder, she finds herself embroiled in another international intrigue. The season was filmed in Los Angeles, Berlin and Reykjavik.

Cuoco isn’t the only one back. She is joined by the second Kaley Cuoco, Zosia Mamet, Griffin Matthews, Denise Akdeniz and Rosie Perez. In addition, many recurring guest stars were able to secure tickets for this flight, including Alanna Ubach, Cheryl Hines, Jessie Ennis, May Martin, Margaret Cho, Santiago Cabrera, Sharon Stone and Shore Aghdashloo.

In 2020, we gave the series a mostly positive review for the series. As our former TV editor Danette Chavez wrote:

With such a leading performance, the Flight Attendant is always more interested in Cassie’s reaction to her predicament than in establishing a truly gripping secret. At its core, The Stewardess is a standard detective story, adorned with a crackling cast and quick dialogue (Mamet, in particular, has a way of leaving a caustic surveillance trail that leaves judgment hanging in the air).

Let’s see if more Cuoco will help improve.

The flight attendant returns April 21 on HBO Max.
