(Montreal) Environment Canada warns that another storm could hit Quebec after a brief lull starting Saturday.

The federal agency says this storm could be very similar to the storm earlier this week. It will bring large amounts of snow, strong winds and blowing snow to most of Quebec.
A special weather bulletin issued Thursday morning by Environment Canada indicates that snow is expected to begin falling in western and southern Quebec Saturday evening before reaching the east later in the day.
Forecasters advise that a transition to rain is possible over southern areas, with the risk of freezing rain during the transition from snow to rain, as was the case earlier this week.
However, uncertainty about the expected rainfall levels remained on Thursday morning. The agency still suggested exploring the possibility of bringing forward or postponing non-essential travel.
As for the storm that hit this week, Environment Canada reported at the end of the day on Wednesday that the Laurentians had received between 30 and 40 centimeters of snow and Mauricie and Quebec City received 25 centimeters. In Gaspésie and on the north coast the values fell between 30 and 40 centimeters.
Snowfall was again observed in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean on Thursday morning.
At one point Wednesday morning, around 41,000 Hydro-Québec customers were without power, but by around 5:45 p.m. only 10,400 were without power. On Thursday morning there were only about 1,650.
