Anthony Richardson injury: Colts quarterback diagnosed with Grade 3 AC joint sprain could miss a month, report says – CBS Sports

Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson left Sunday’s game against the Titans with a shoulder injury, sending the first-round draft pick to the sidelines for the third time in five weeks. NFL Media has since reported The rookie has been diagnosed with a Grade 3 AC joint sprain and could be out for at least a month and possibly longer.

According to Josina Anderson, senior NFL insider for CBS Sports, Richardson underwent an MRI at an imaging center. Anderson said Richardson, who was not hospitalized, will seek a second opinion regardless of the results of his initial scan.

Richardson remained on the ground after falling on his right shoulder during a tackle by Tennessee’s Harold Landry in the second quarter. He was then escorted to the locker room for further evaluation, with replacement Gardner Minshew taking over the position under center.

The Colts officially ruled Richardson’s return is questionable after his elimination, then demoted him to “out” at the start of the second half.

The Florida product, drafted fourth overall this spring, was sidelined in Week 3 due to a concussion he suffered the week before. He also briefly left the Colts’ season opener with an apparent lower leg injury suffered late in Indianapolis’ loss to the Jaguars.

Minshew served as the team’s starting QB against the Ravens and led Indy to an upset win. He helped the Colts take a narrow lead into halftime against the rival Titans on Sunday, while Richardson left the game after going 9 of 12 through the air for 98 yards.
