Anthony Starr sentenced to 12 months probation for attacking cook

Anthony Starr has been given a 12-month suspended sentence in Spain for assaulting a man during a night out in a pub on the Costa Blanca, according to a new report.

The New Zealand actor, 46, admitted to getting into a pub fight with 21-year-old chef Batuel Araujo during an “urgent trial” held in Alicante, a province on Spain’s southeast coast, the Daily Mail reported on Thursday.

However, a suspended sentence is when a judge sentences a defendant to prison or jail time, but then delays issuing an actual prison sentence to give the defendant probation instead, according to legal experts.

According to the Daily Mail, Starr, who played the superhero Homelander on The Boys, will have to pay more than $5,000 in damages to the victim within 72 hours to avoid jail time.

Araujo posted pictures on his Instagram stories of him walking out of court with his lawyer. He also shared a screenshot of an article published by the Sun that said the young chef would need stitches as a result of the attack.

According to the publication, a spokesman for the court said that Starr’s “state of drunkenness was taken into account as a mitigating circumstance” in reaching the decision.

“The verdict was the result of an agreement between the prosecutor’s office and the subsequently convicted person,” the official added.

The Sun also reported that Araujo told a local paper that Starr “lashed out” after a friend the chef was with asked Starr’s pal to calm him down because he was “a nuisance”.

The actor allegedly responded by telling the buddy to “fuck off” and tried to push him out of the pub.

Araujo reportedly told a local Spanish publication that Starr punched him in the jaw and near the eye. He said he responded with “repulsion”.

The Venezuelan native added: “After he hit me, I got dizzy, and that’s when he hit me with a glass on my left eyebrow.”

A spokesperson for Starr did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

The actor has not commented on the incident on social media, and his latest Instagram post is a selfie taken in front of the boat dock. He is holding a peace sign.
