Anya Taylor Joy reveals the unexpected film that helped her learn English Best Picture

Anya Taylor Joy During a recent interview, she shared an odd background to her childhood, revealing the film that – through repeated viewing – allowed her to learn how English language. That statement could confuse fans of the actress, who – remember – is a US citizen with British citizenship. But let’s take a step back.

The actress was born in Florida. However, when he was a child, the family moved to Argentina in Buenos Aires and then settled in London when the future star was only six years old. Traumatized by the move, little Anya refused to speak English 2 years to convince the parents to return to South America. Which of course didn’t happen, and at the age of fourteen she dropped out of school and moved to New York City, driven by a desire to learn acting.

Now Anya Taylor-Joy has revealed that she learned English thanks to repeated visions School of Rockthe well-known comedy with JackBlack who, in the eyes of the future actress, was a great rock star in every way:

At the school I went to when I moved to London, they played School of Rock every Friday. At that time, I didn’t speak much English – albeit not a little – so I can say that thanks to School of Rock, Harry Potter and Jumanji I can say I learned English!

The actress and Jack Black himself worked on the acclaimed Super Mario Bros. The Movie currently in theaters voicing the characters Princess Peach and Bowser respectively. A circumstance that made Anya Taylor-Joy enthusiastic herself, who then had the opportunity to do so meets his hero during the film’s promotional tour:

Little did I know that I would be promoting the Jack Black film in the press, so as I read I let out a very high pitched scream that I wasn’t expecting. We didn’t meet because we recorded lines separately, so I stayed really upset when I read the support program.

Meanwhile, Jack Black himself has stated his intention to organize an event for the in recent months 20th anniversary of the film that fall on October 3, 2023:

“All these kids were 10 when we made this film, they’re in their 30s now. We’re getting together to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the film. We like to play together. I can’t wait to see all these guys again grow up by School of Rock.
