How do you know if you’re still hungry? when to stop Satiety is described in the dictionary as a craving that is amply satisfied.
That makes me smile. In Spanish, it’s polite in my family after a meal to say, “I’m satisfied, thank you!” You don’t say, “I’m full.” Which doesn’t mean we aren’t!
heaviness
Raise your hand leaving the table with a too full stomach? Adjusting to my appetite never came naturally to me. In other words, knowing how to feel satiety. Still, it should be easy, but it’s far from easy for me. I have to chew and eat slowly and put my fork down between bites. My mother also taught me to leave food on my plate.
I’m not the only one who is paradoxically told to empty your plate so as not to waste anything. Why not make leftovers from the little bites that you really don’t want anymore? Without saying it, my mother still set a good example.
Know yourself without judging yourself
The reality is that we are what we are! If you’re like me and eat your mouth full with all your heart (I’ve improved a lot in the last few years, by the way, I want to congratulate myself), let’s remember my mother’s tricks. The feeling of leaving the table and having eaten just enough is so pleasant. Who does not know the uncomfortable feeling of having to unbutton your pants at the table with the feeling that you are about to explode? i know i confess
My microwave thing
With my children, I wanted to teach them to control their own appetites. Babies, of course they did. They turned their heads to signal that another bite of porridge was too much. Older people, when they asked me a second time if they could help themselves (and a third time now teenagers) I always replied that I had no idea. “Ask your stomach. How do I know if you’re still hungry? »
They were very small and I punched them in the microwave and added 10 minutes to that time. If it were 6:10 p.m., I would tell them, “At 6:20 p.m., ask your stomach the question again and it will answer you. Mostly 2 minutes later they forgot about it and asked to leave the table.
I’m so happy that you know how to manage your “hunger budget” by intuitively listening to your body’s signals. This doesn’t mean they don’t have gaps like a financial budget, but they do master and know the principles of mindful satiety.
All is not won yet
In my case, the faster I eat without chewing, the more I take. My taste buds always remind me that they live in my mouth and not in my stomach. When I send me bites at high speed, they demand more, for lack of time to relive this great pleasure, taste the delicacies. I’m not satisfied, as the dictionary says, but then very stuffed.
That’s life, I don’t put myself under pressure. Before every meal, I try to remember to eat and chew slowly. It multiplies the infinite pleasure of eating. My favorite sport. Enjoy your meal !
