Apple Maps may have a feature that Google Maps lacks. This would be a first, as Apple’s service mostly takes inspiration from its main competitor. Journalist Steve Moser found several references to e-bikes in Apple Maps code. This proposes the launch of optimized routes for e-bikes.

for years, Apple Maps suffers when compared to Google Maps, the gold standard for mapping services. Despite everything, the Apple brand regularly integrates new features (often inspired by those of Google Maps, by the way) to hope catch up with its main competitor.
For example, Apple Maps 2021 has equipped itself with a function to display congested stores, handy in times of a pandemic. The app also warns users of potential weather-related hazards. Among the latest innovations to date, Apple intends to deeply modify the graphical aspect of Apple Maps with 3D cities.
E-bike routes come to Apple Maps
However, application developer and journalist Steve Moser reveals his latest discovery about Apple Plans this Monday, July 4th. Searching through the code of the latest version of the application, he found new lines related to the phrase “e-bike” as well asa route optimization function for e-bike users.
Unfortunately, this feature is not currently available in Apple Maps, indicating that it must still be in the testing phase at Apple. It’s hard to say what the differences between the routes for classic bikes and e-bikes will be. However, we suspect that the app will take the initiative to offer steeper routes (in any case with more relief) to make the most of the electric motorization of these bikes.
These routes could too Display of charging stations on the go, so you can refuel on the go. In any case, this is an excellent initiative from Apple at a time when urban mobility is a booming market. In England, for example, the first free charging stations for e-bikes have appeared, while a Swedish brand has just launched a kit that allows you to convert your bike into an e-bike for less money.
