Apple TV+ has released the official trailer for Hijack, the upcoming thriller series that will premiere on Wednesday, June 28 with two episodes. The seven-episode season will be available on the streamer, with the remaining five episodes being expanded over the next five weeks, leading up to the August 2nd finale.

According to the official logline, “‘Hijack’ is a thriller that follows the journey of a hijacked plane on its seven-hour flight to London, and local authorities are scrambling for answers.”

“Hijack” stars Idris Elba as Sam Nelson, the negotiator who steps in to save the lives of his fellow passengers. Joining Elba are Christine Adams, Max Beesley, Eve Myles, Neil Maskell, Jasper Britton, Harry Michell, Aimee Kelly, Mohamed Elsandel and Ben Miles.

CBS has set premiere dates for its summer of reality television programming, including three recurring series and one new series.

“Secret Celebrity Renovation” opens the program with a premiere on July 28, followed by the debut of “Big Brother” season 25 on August 2. The brand new musical game show, Superfan, premieres August 9th and finally The Challenge: USA returns for its second season on August 10th.

Big Brother Season 25 will debut on Wednesday, August 2 at 8:00 p.m. ET with a special 90-minute episode as a group of new houseguests arrive at the Big Brother house. After the premiere, the series will air on Sundays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m., followed by Thursdays at 9 p.m. with live evictions.

In the all-new “Superfan” series, hosts Nate Burleson and Keltie Knight lead the contestants as they struggle to prove they’re their favorite artist’s biggest supporter. This season’s celebrities include Kelsea Ballerini, Gloria Estefan, Little Big Town, LL COOL J, Pitbull and Shania Twain.

The CBS version of the hit MTV series The Challenge celebrates its second season on CBS with The Challenge: USA on August 10 at 10 p.m. Two episodes air each week, Sundays at 9 p.m. and Thursdays at 10 p.m. Popular contestants from previous CBS reality shows like “Survivor,” “Big Brother,” and “The Amazing Race” return to take on “The Challenge.” – Measure icons.

Acorn TV’s upcoming international crime romantic drama Cannes Confidential will premiere on June 26, the AMC Networks streamer announced. The six-part series will release two new episodes every Monday through July 10th.

Cannes Confidential stars Lucie Lucas as Camille Delmasse, Jamie Bamber as Harry King and Tamara Marthe as Léa Robert.

Cannes Confidential follows Detective Camille and international con man Harry after they are brought together to solve crimes on the French Riviera. But while they solve crimes on the coast, Camille tries to negotiate a deal with her colleague Léa to free her father from the corruption allegations.

NBC4 and Telemundo 52 announced Tuesday that Marina Perelman has been promoted to vice president of news at NBC4 and Miguel “Mike” Gaytán has been named vice president of news at Telemundo 52. Perelman and Gaytán are both tasked with running the news department at their respective stations.

Netflix has scheduled the premiere of Sweet Magnolias season 3 for July 20 and released a first picture for the upcoming season.

Sweet Magnolias is based on the book series of the same name by Sherryl Woods. Season 3 continues to follow three best friends, Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Helen (Heather Headley) and Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott) as they navigate their families, friendships and love lives.

Swisher, Elliott, Headley, Chris Klein, Jamie Lynn Spears, Justin Bruening, Carson Rowland, Logan Allen, Chris Medlin, Anneliese Judge, Brandon Quinn and Dion Johnstone are all starring in Season 3.

Netflix has released a series of first-look images for the second season of its romantic drama Heartstopper, which stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke and is set to premiere August 3.

In season two, Nick (Connor) and Charlie (Locke) will take the spotlight as they navigate the waters of their new relationship. The students take a trip to Paris before their prom, and this group of friends realize they have a lot to cover “as they journey through the next stages of life, love, and friendship.”

Season 2 will star Connor and Locke alongside Yasmin Finney, William Gao, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Sebastian Croft, Tobie Donovan, Rhea Norwood, Jenny Walser, Cormac Hyde-Corrin and Olivia Colman.

Josha Stradowski and Rosamund Pike bring a new look at the ancient world to Season 2 of Wheel of Time. Prime Video revealed the first look images ahead of the series premiere on September 1st.

The Prime synopsis states: “In Season Two, new and ancient threats set out in search of the young friends of the Two Rivers, now scattered across the world. The woman who found and guided them can no longer help, so they must find other sources of strength. In each other or in themselves. In the light… or in the dark.”

Season 2 also stars Daniel Henney, Zoë Robins, Madeleine Madden, Marcus Rutherford, Dónal Finn and Ceara Coveney. The series is based on Robert Jordan’s book series of the same name and was adapted for television by executive producer and showrunner Rafe Judkins. The upcoming Netflix comedy series Survival of The Thickest will premiere on July 13 with eight episodes, the streamer announced on Wednesday.

Based on Michelle Buteau’s collection of essays, Survival of The Thickest follows Mavis Beaumont (Buteau), a single black plus-size stylist who, with the help of her new family, tries to rebuild her career in the fashion world.

Netflix has set the release date for its new series Glamorous for June 22, accompanied by a series of first look pictures.

“Glamorous” tells the story of Marco Mejia (Miss Benny), a gender-nonconforming queer man who ends up getting a job with makeup mogul Madolyn Addison (Kim Cattrall). As the series progresses, Marco will explore his individuality and embark on a journey of self-discovery, “and what it really means to him to be queer,” according to Netflix’s official release.

The series will star alongside Zane Phillips, Jade Payton, Michael Hsu Rosen, Ayesha Harris and Graham Parkhurst, as well as Miss Benny and Cattrall.

The Netflix animated series Skull Island premieres June 22 and features the voices of Nicolas Cantu, Mae Whitman, Darren Barnett, Benjamin Bratt and Betty Gilpin. Part of Legendary Television’s Monsterverse, the anime series follows the 2017 feature film Kong: Skull Island. It tells the story of a strange and frightening island, home to creatures, monsters and kings, and the shipwrecked explorers, who land there.

“Skull Island” was created, written and executive produced by Brian Duffield, producer of “Cocaine Bear” and creator of “Love and Monsters”. Additionally, Jacob Robinson, Brad Graeber, Jen Chambers and Thomas Tull served as executive producers. The animation was created by Powerhouse Animation.

TelevisaUnivision’s ViX has joined the premium tier of Roku’s premium subscription offering, the streaming platform announced Thursday.

The premium tier of ViX offers a library of Spanish language content in a variety of genres and formats – including series, movies, novels, reality news, live news and sports. Subscribers have access to over 20,000 hours of content including over 70 ViX Original Series.

“We’re excited to connect millions of streamers to ViX’s unparalleled offering of Spanish language entertainment and sports programming as a premium subscription,” said Randy Ahn, Roku head of monetization and subscriptions.

“We are excited to continue expanding ViX’s presence on Roku by joining its premium subscription offering. This will allow ViX to reach new audiences through the Roku Channel and resonate with viewers through the integrated discovery experiences only available on the Roku platform,” said Adam Waltuch, TelevisaUnivision EVP of global distribution and streaming partnerships.

The new ViX premium tier is available to all US Roku users for $6.99 per month or $59.99 per year with a seven-day free trial.

Kino Lorber and First Look Media have merged to form a new streaming company. The new company will host and operate First Look’s topic streaming service and Kino Lorber’s MHz Choice SVOD service.

As a US streamer specializing in international series, MHz Choice will soon join the Topic library of thrillers, crime, drama and documentaries.

Frederick Thomas, founder of MHz Networks at Kino Lorber, will oversee the programming, marketing and technology of the upcoming service. Ryan Chanatry, Topic’s general manager, and Jennifer Liang, Topic’s vice president of program strategy, acquisitions and sales, will provide advisory services throughout the transition.

“As North American audiences embrace entertainment from around the world, we’re proud to now be home to the top two streaming services for international series and films,” said Richard Lorber, president and CEO of Kino Lorber, in a statement.

PROGRAMMING

The launch of As1One, an all-male Israeli-Palestinian pop group, is documented in a five-part documentary on Paramount. The boy band is Universal Music Israel’s first international addition and was assembled through an audition led by veteran music executives James Diener and Ken Levitan. The former signed their first label deal with Maroon 5; The latter managed Kings of Leon for 20 years.

The Paramount series will follow the artistic journeys and backstories of the six-piece boy band, which consists of singers, rappers and instrumentalists, and will document their international start.
