iOS 17, the future version of the iPhone operating system, was expected to be presented by Apple at the WWDC conference on June 5th. One of the big news would be the integration of a brand new screensaver that changes the way iPhones are displayed when not in use to make them much more useful. But other innovations are also planned.

Apple’s WWDC in June 2023 is just around the corner. During the opening conference, the Apple brand was expected to present the outlines of iOS 17 (codenamed Dawn), the new version of the operating system that runs the iPhone. The always well-informed American media Bloomberg thinks they know some of the novelties that Apple will present. And one of them should completely change the user interface of iPhones in standby mode. Better, Sleep mode would be much more usefulcopying some features already present on Android.
iOS 17: the metamorphosis of always on
Since iOS 16, the iPhone 14 has always-on feature that allows the screen to stay on even when the smartphone is sleeping. The advantage: Thanks to the widgets that have been integrated since iOS 16.2, the time and various information can be displayed. It seems that Apple wants to go one step further with the redesign of this screensaver. The idea: make it much more comfortable for the user.

The American media, for example, point to the display of the weather, upcoming appointments or notifications, in the style of assistants such as the Google Nest Hub. The goal is to display much more information than currently, and including all data from Apple applications. And above all, to present them in a visually more comfortable way than on iOS 16.

The California giant could offer us a slightly more advanced solution than the competition.
iPad OS 17 and other new features
The American journalist Mark Gurman also predicted a redesign of the iPad operating system with the introduction of a similar screen saver. But it seems that it is not yet at the level of iOS. In this context, he points out that the iOS 16 screensaver is still not available on the iPad OS 16.
Other new features are also planned for iOS 17, such as an update to the wallet application (Maps), an improvement in the location service, a new journaling application and the likely launch of the Health application on the iPad.
Google Nest Hub
There is uncertainty about a new product that Apple could launch. It would bean inexpensive tablet that serves only as a connection to Apple’s networked home universe. It could be a small tablet that is hung on the wall, for example to regulate connected lamps or thermostats or to make FaceTime calls. But this product remains totally in the rumor state.
