NEW YORK, April 27, 2022–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aqara, a leading provider of smart home products, announces the launch of its new P1 motion sensor, an updated model of the best-selling Aqara motion sensor. The sensor is a PIR motion and light detector that can detect both motion and ambient light in the room, suitable for security and home automation. The P1 model, based on the previous generation, further extends battery life to a record-breaking 5 years* thanks to more energy-efficient technologies and improved batteries. The new sensor is available from Amazon in the United States, Canada, Germany and France. It is also available at select Aqara dealers in North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania**. Developed on the basis of Zigbee 3.0 protocol, which offers faster response, higher reliability and better compatibility, the P1 motion detector offers users more flexibility, e.g. B. a configurable detection delay and an adjustable sensitivity level. No longer limited to a 60 second delay like its predecessor, the P1 sensor allows users to set the detection delay from 1 to 200 seconds via the Aqara Home app. It is also possible to set the sensitivity level to a high, medium or low level, which indicates the distance from which the sensor will be triggered to limit false alarms. By default, i.e. with medium sensitivity, the sensor supports a field of view (FoV) of 170° to 2 meters and 150° to 7 meters.
P1 motion sensors are compatible with major home automation ecosystems including HomeKit, Alexa, IFTTT and more. Additionally, the Sensor will support Matter, the new connectivity standard for IoT devices, through an OTA update from Aqara hubs after the Matter launch. The sensor itself also supports OTA updates, meaning that new features and fixes can be added now that the product has been released.
