After failing to defeat the King of the Sea for the first time, villain Black Manta (Yahya AbdulMateen II) uses the power of the mythical Black Trident to unleash an ancient and evil force that could destroy planet Earth . To protect Atlantis and the rest of the world, Aquaman must team up with Orm (Patrick Wilson), the brother with whom he fought for Atlantis in the first film.

The adventure is not just about saving the world, but also about the brothers' relationship. In the first film they both hated each other.

Amber Heard, in the film Mera, appears less often in this film, which she cites as retaliation for the allegations made against her exhusband Johnny Depp. However, director James Wang told Empire that “I wasn't thinking about her while I was making this film.”

James Wang, famous for his horror productions, returned to direct this feature film. As it belongs to its type of films, there are scenes with elements of fear and monsters.

The sequences that take place underwater are well lit and well processed. The film was shot in iMAX 3D and is worth seeing in a special room.
