Warner Bros. has given its upcoming cinema program a small new edition. “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” the final installment of the current series of DC Comics adaptations before an upcoming reboot, has been pushed back from December 20th to December 22nd. The move from Wednesday to Friday release date gives the superhero film a traditional three-day opening in theaters, as opposed to the originally planned five-day rollout.

The slight delay gives “Aquaman 2” a little more distance from the chocolatier prequel “Wonka” by Timothée Chalamet. Warner Bros. is also releasing this variant of writer Roald Dahl’s long-running character on December 15th.

It’s a busy holiday season for the studio, which also premieres its adaptation of the musical “The Color Purple” on Christmas Day. That’s three major titles coming back-to-back, coming more than three months after Warner Bros.’s last release – “The Nun II,” a spinoff of the horror series “Conjuring” that debuted in September.

Additionally, the studio has renamed its upcoming Robert De Niro vehicle, from “Wise Guys” to “Alto Knights,” named after the famous New York social club. The historical gangster drama sees the star take on two roles – Italian-American crime bosses Vito Genovese and Frank Costello – and reunites him with filmmaker Barry Levinson, who played De Niro in “Wag the Dog”, “Sleeper” and the HBO films ” The Wizard of Lies” and “What Just Happened”.

“Alto Knights” will now be released on November 14, 2024, pushing back the original release date of February 2, 2024.
