Aquaman 2, The Flash and Black Adam Release Dates Postponed

Warner Bros. shuffled the release dates of several films, including Black Adam, The Flash, Aquaman 2, Wonka, and Shazam 2.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and The Flash are being pushed back from 2022 to 2023 due to COVID-related VFX production delays. The sequel starring Jason Momoa has been pushed back from December 16, 2022 to March 17, 2023. Meanwhile, Ezra Miller’s first solo outing as The Flash is being pushed back from November 4, 2022 to June 23, 2023.

Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is pushed back three months to October 21, 2022, and the DC Super Pet League is pushed back to July 29, 2022, which was the original Black Adam date. Super Pets, in which Johnson voices Superman’s best friend, superdog Krypto, was previously dated May 20, 2022.

“Shazam! Fury of the Gods is the only film to move forward several months. The sequel starring Zachary Levi will fly from June 2, 2023 to December 12, 2022, just in time for the Christmas season.

“We are very excited to present Shazam! Wrath of the Gods to the public as a Christmas present this year,” said Jeff Goldstein, president of Warner Bros. for internal distribution. “Families of all ages will love this.”

In terms of non-superhero releases, Timothée Chalamet’s turn as chocolatier Willy Wonka in Wonka’s origin story is pushed back a few months from March 17, 2023 to December 15, 2023.

Finally, the shark disaster film The Meg 2: The Trench, starring Jason Statham, hits theaters on August 4, 2023.

Johnson was the first to shake up the Warner Bros. release calendar by announcing that Black Adam and Super Pets are being delayed Wednesday afternoon. Shortly thereafter, Warner Bros. officially made the rest of the changes to the release.

Warner Bros. promises a hot start to 2022 with DC Comics’ Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell and Jeffrey Wright. Director Matt Reeves’ take on The Caped Crusader made $134 million at the home box office in its opening weekend, the best opening of 2022 and the second-biggest pandemic-era debut behind Spider-Man: No Way Home. “.
