Cairo, April 7th. – The Arab Parliament today condemned the ongoing Israeli bombing of Gaza, which it regards as a flagrant violation of human rights and the UN Charter.
The pan-Arab legislature issued a statement condemning the systematic attacks on the Palestinian people and blaming the Israeli authorities for the consequences of this dangerous escalation, particularly during Ramadan, a holy month for Muslims.
He noted that the attacks during this period “represent a great provocation to the feelings of Muslims around the world.”
He also called on the international community to intervene immediately to stop these actions.
For the third day in a row, the Israeli Air Force this morning attacked the Gaza Strip and Lebanon for the first time this year.
The army justified its bombing as responding to the launch of about 40 rockets believed to have been fired by the Islamic resistance movement (Hamas) from the south of the neighboring state.
However, the Al Mayadeen TV channel stated that the areas in that country attacked by Israel were “agricultural with no military presence”.
The last major confrontation between the two nations, which have technically been at war since 1948, occurred in 2006 when Israel attacked the neighboring nation under the pretense of fighting the Hezbollah group.
More than 160 Israelis, most of them soldiers, and nearly 1,200 Lebanese died in the clashes.
Tensions in the area have been escalating since Tuesday night following the Israeli police’s decision to evict the Palestinian believers then in the area, as is customary during Ramadan, a holy month for Muslims.
It is planned for Jews to enter the site as part of Passover activities.
Actions by the armed forces led to clashes in and around the mosque over the past 48 hours, increasing tensions and drawing numerous international criticisms, particularly in Arab and Muslim countries.
