Arab Parliament rejects expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza

In a statement, regional lawmakers reiterated that this coastal enclave is an integral part of the future Palestinian state.

The statements made by some extremist ministers in Benjamin Netanyahu's executive branch “are barbaric statements that reflect the racist nature of the occupation while stoking tensions and conflicts in the region,” he stressed.

These words constitute a blatant violation of UN Security Council resolutions on the issue and international law, he recalled.

Given this situation, the Arab Parliament called on the world to put pressure on Israel to cancel these plans.

The Palestinian government yesterday highlighted international rejection of recent calls by Israeli ministers for the expulsion of Gazans.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned in a statement the plans of national security chiefs Itamar Ben Gvir and finance chief Bezalel Smotrich, who are known for their anti-Arab and far-right positions.

Both advocated the “voluntary resettlement” of the 2.3 million Palestinians living in the area.

This vision is rejected by the international community, led by Egypt and Jordan, which border the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, respectively.

In this context, Israeli Minister of Culture and Sports Miki Zohar criticized this Thursday Smotrich and Ben Gvir for pushing for the Palestinian exodus.

Although Zohar belongs to Netanyahu's right-wing Likud party, he explained that this vision “is not realistic because it is clear that the international community will not accept it.”

The official admitted that he would like to expel Palestinians from Gaza, but said there was no point in discussing it publicly as it would be impossible.
