Damascus, March 18 (Prensa Latina) Representatives of political parties and forces from 11 Arab countries today expressed their full support and solidarity with Syria in the face of the consequences of the blockade imposed by the West on this Arab nation.
This position was expressed during the reception President Bashar al-Assad gave to members of the General Secretariat of the Conference of Arab Parties, which was holding its 63rd extraordinary meeting in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
At this event, which was held under the motto “Yes to the unity and sovereignty of Syria, no to the siege and aggression.”
The Secretary General of the Conference of Arab Parties, Qassem Salih, called for an end to the occupation of all Syrian countries and the lifting of the unjust siege and unilateral coercive sanctions.
These illegal actions violate international law and are clear evidence of the arrogance of US policy, participants at the meeting said.
They stressed that despite all the terrorism and destruction, Syria’s steadfastness and victory made it the “point of the compass” for the Arabs.
President Al-Assad, in turn, considered that the opportunity for the actions of the parties and political forces is favorable today because there are real and practical models on the ground that have demonstrated the success of the besieged peoples in resisting the blockade.
He emphasized that a large part of the Syrian people have a spirit of defiance and belief in the veracity of their positions, and this, according to Al-Assad, is the most important factor of firmness, and without this spirit no country can remain firm, even if she provides any kind of help.
