Argentina Accompanying Victims of Violence Stands Out

Ayelen Mazzina

BUENOS AIRES, July 7th (RHC) – Argentina’s Minister for Women, Gender and Diversity, Ayelén Mazzina, stressed this Friday that since 2019 this state department has accompanied and advised more than a million people in violent situations.

Closing a Federal Council meeting on how to tackle this issue, respect diversity and build a caring society, the minister stressed the need to strengthen public policies that ensure respect for the rights of all citizens.

He also criticized parts of the opposition alliance Juntos por el Cambio, who are calling for the ministry to be closed.

We will defend this space. “We will not negotiate about people’s lives or dignity,” he stressed.

The event opened the day before and brings together representatives from different regions working to diagnose the specific needs of each jurisdiction.

The Council has been meeting since 2020 and develops strategies to eliminate economic violence, promote a more equitable reorganization of care and measures for redress and recognition of transsexuals and transvestites, among other things.

We live in complex times and there are those who continue to promote and nurture anti-democratic discourses. On the first day of the event, Mazzina warned that the focus is primarily on the areas of gender and everything that means progress.

Let’s fight because we have the commitment, conviction and strength to keep fighting to build a more equal society, for the rights we have achieved and for the rights that are lacking, he added. (Source:PL)
