Ariana Grande responded to the criticism she received about her love life last year with her new single “Yes, And?”
The 30-year-old pop singer released the '80s-inspired ditty on Friday, her first since 2021, with an electrifying music video to accompany it.
The lyrics appear to be aimed at the hatred she felt over her romance with boyfriend Ethan Slater, who she began dating shortly after her split from Dalton Gomez.

The subtle backlash came after Ariana came under public criticism in July when rumors circulated that she was dating her “Wicked” co-star Ethan, just days after news of her split from Dalton broke.
To raise eyebrows, Ethan had recently ended his marriage to Lilly Jay, his high school sweetheart.
They welcomed their first child together in August 2022, and he filed for divorce from her in July 2023.
Many fans were taken aback by the lyrics, especially given previous “Homewrecker” allegations.
“Being a 'homewrecker' isn't the flexibility you think it is,” one tweet said readthan another wrote: “I love Ari, but she has glamorized being the other woman so much, it hurts to see.”
Still others supported their idol because it seemed like she was trying to defend herself against the gossip.

In the '80s-inspired ditty, Ariana also appears to respond to fans' “concerns” about her changing appearance, which she also addressed in a TikTok in April.
“My face is sitting I don't need no disguise,” she sings in Yes, And?. “Don’t comment on my body, don’t respond.”

Since 2021, she has lent her vocals to other songs, including “Save Your Tears” and “Die For You” by The Weeknd.
Meanwhile, Ariana will play the good witch Glinda in Wicked, while Ethan will portray a munchkin named Boq.
The film is expected to hit theaters in November 2024.
