Ariana Grande steps into the upcoming Wicked movie with a dramatic blonde hair transformation worthy of Glinda, the good witch.
“New earrings,” the 29-year-old pop star coyly captioned an Instagram photo of her new platinum ponytail on Wednesday.
Grande’s friends and fans understandably freaked out when Jonathan Van Ness called the look “Iconique” and Gottmik dubbed her “A BLONDE DIVA.”
“Ohh hello old friend,” commented hairstylist Chris Appleton, who was responsible for the last time Grande went blonde for her 2018 album Sweetener.
“Blondiana just rocked the internet,” gushed one fan, while another nodded to a “Wicked” song and quipped, “You’re gonna be popular.”
Over two million people liked Grande’s snap in the first hour after she posted.
It has been announced that Grande will play the vivacious blonde witch in the screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical in November 2021, with Cynthia Erivo playing green-skinned Elphaba.
In April 2022, director Jon M. Chu announced that the film would be split into two parts – which will be released on Christmas Day 2024 and 2025 – to the dismay of fans, some of whom called it a “money heist”.

While the star is filming the film(s), she has remained busy with her beauty business, continuing to expand her REM Beauty line and recently launching new body products from God Is A Woman, Ulta Beauty.
Though theater geeks may have to wait more than a year to see “Wicked” on the big screen, Grande is still working elsewhere.
