A woman was stabbed to death in the Lachine district on Saturday morning.
According to initial information from the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), an 911 call was made around 11 a.m. about a woman with upper body injuries on Camille Street near Ouellette Avenue.
Upon arrival, police found a 30-year-old woman with stab wounds. The latter was conscious and was quickly treated by Urgence-Santé. The woman was taken to a hospital to be treated for her injuries but is said to be out of danger.
“According to initial information, she would have been the victim of an attack […] in an apartment,” said Véronique Dubuc, spokeswoman for the SPVM.
Shortly after their arrival, police arrested a suspect, a 47-year-old man with a criminal record on various charges.
Investigators are headed toward the crime scene analysis.
Two simultaneous events
When police went to the scene of the attack, they saw a person throw an object through the window of an apartment on Rue Camille. It turned out to be a modified air pistol. A suspect in his forties was quickly arrested.
“More arrests may follow,” the spokesman said.
However, the two events are not linked, Ms Dubuc said.
