Armed Good Samaritan foils attempted robbery of postman in quiet Chicago suburb: witnesses

According to witnesses, an armed Good Samaritan foiled an attempted robbery of a postal worker in a suburb of Chicago.

“I heard a bang, bang and bang, bang, bang, then my mom yells, ‘Tell me those weren’t gunshots,'” a witness who lives in the area told NBC Chicago Tuesday of the incident in River Grove, Illinois.

Police said they responded at around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in a neighborhood in the village of River Grove to find a US Postal Service worker being approached by an armed suspect who demanded his keys.
