Armed violence: three arrests in Beauce and Quebec

Three suspects, around the age of 20, have been arrested in Saint-Bernard and Quebec in an operation to combat drug trafficking.

Police officers from the Integrated Arms Trafficking Team (EILTA) Quebec carried out Thursday’s attack in cooperation with the National Organized Crime Squad (ENRCO).

These arrests follow an investigation begun in September 2022 that led to the arrest of three people last February.

Two of those three people were re-arrested. Christopher Dion, 24, of Saint-Bernard, Zachary Hamel, 29, of Quebec, and Vincent Côté, 27, of Saint-Bernard, appeared at the Quebec City Courthouse to answer multiple charges related to possession or trafficking of various narcotics .

Last February, around 343,000 methamphetamine tablets were seized during searches.

The mandate of the CENTAURE strategy is to ensure constant pressure on organized crime and thus take active action against armed violence in Quebec.

In addition, SPVQ investigators also arrested a 52-year-old man for illegal cannabis and narcotics offences.

A search was carried out at an apartment building in the Lairet sector in La Cité-Limoilou district. Cocaine, methamphetamine, dried cannabis, prescription pills, CBD capsules, cash and a firearm were seized.

The person was released on summons.
