A holiday party for employees at an Airbus subsidiary in France turned worse earlier this month when dozens of employees fell ill after a company Christmas party.

“Around 100 Airbus Atlantic employees fell ill after contracting a food-borne illness after eating the Christmas dinner organized by the company,” a spokesman for the European airline said in an emailed statement to CNN.

The spokesman did not provide any information about the type of food.

According to the spokesman, no one at Airbus was seriously ill as a result of the incident on December 15th and all employees were back at work the following Monday.

Founded in January 2022, Airbus Atlantic is a wholly owned Airbus subsidiary specializing in aircraft seats. Airbus Atlantic employs 13,000 people in five countries, although the ill-fated Christmas dinner took place in France.

French health authorities are conducting an investigation into the disease outbreak, the Airbus spokesman said.

“This appears to be an isolated incident and all employees are doing well,” the Airbus spokesman said added. “The health of our employees remains our primary concern and we are cooperating fully with the health authority ARS to determine the cause of the illness and ensure that something like this cannot happen in the future.”
