Arrested after climbing the spire of Milan Cathedral

Two young French men were briefly arrested on Friday morning after climbing the spire of Duomo Milan, the majestic cathedral in the Lombard capital in northern Italy, a local official said.

“This morning in Milan, local police officers saw two young people climbing the tower of the Duomo, sounded the alarm and took up positions around the cathedral. When they got out, they were arrested and identified: they are French,” wrote Marco Granelli, security manager of the city of Milan, on his Facebook page.

According to Italian media, they are two young people, aged 18 and 20, from the Lyon region and part of a group climbing monuments across Europe.
