Arrested for selling stolen Amazon packages at a flea market

A 57-year-old woman allegedly had the bad idea of ​​stealing Amazon packages from her Sherbrooke neighborhood before selling the fruits of her theft at a flea market on Rue Hélène-Boullé, warning residents in the sector.

Police said they were contacted on Saturday by several citizens who are convinced the lady was trying to sell stolen goods.

“According to our information, the lady was caught stealing Amazon packages from many residents in the area. Videos of these thefts also circulated on social media,” Sherbrooke Police said.

Videos were even circulating on Facebook pages showing the suspect confiscating packages in the days leading up to her arrest.

When the woman was confronted by officers who confiscated electronics and her vehicle, her case escalated as she attempted to resist arrest, including by pushing and kicking an officer, police said.

These actions result in charges not only of mail theft, but also of assault and obstruction of police work.
