As Chicago braces for terrible weather, Buffalo Bills arrive a day early

The theme of Week 16 this NFL season will be bad weather. That’s not ideal for those still living in the fantasy football playoffs.

Bad weather is expected to hit several games this weekend and one of the worst weather situations will be in Chicago. The poor Buffalo Bills. They’ve already moved a home game to Detroit because of snow and briefly postponed another home game because fans threw snowballs, and now they’ll be traveling through miserable conditions just to play the Chicago Bears on a freezing Saturday afternoon.

The Bills announced they will be leaving Buffalo on Thursday. They usually travel the day before their game, which is Saturday this week as Christmas falls on Sunday. But weather conditions changed their plans.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Chicago that will be in effect Thursday noon through Saturday morning. The NWS warned of “occasional white-out conditions” due to 2 to 5 inches of snow and wind gusts of up to 50 mph. Wind chill is expected to be 25 to 35 degrees below zero.

Even if it drops a bit by the time the game kicks off on Saturday, these are not nice conditions for a football game. According to Yahoo Weather, a high of 10 degrees and a low of 2 degrees are forecast for Saturday. And the wind off Lake Michigan will make it a lot worse.

That’s not good news for the Bills, who like to pass the ball. Quarterback Josh Allen has a strong arm, but nobody likes to throw it when the wind chill is below zero.

Cleveland, Kansas City, Nashville, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and maybe Foxborough are expected to experience brutally cold weather this weekend. Expect lots of ugly low score games.
