In an interview with British television, the French president called on Israel to stop killing civilians without “reason” or “legitimacy” in Gaza. Hadas Kalderon, mother of two children kidnapped by Hamas, regrets that Emmanuel Macron had no word for the hostages.
Hadas Kalderon met Emmanuel Macron on October 24 during the meeting at Tel Aviv Airport the visit of the President of the Republic to the Middle East. As the mother of two French-Israeli children who were taken hostage by Hamas along with their father, their former companion, she described “a very special man” who “gave a lot of hope” to the families.
The day after the head of state’s interview with the BBC in which he called on Israel to stop killing civilians without “reason” or “legitimacy,” Hadas Kalderon nevertheless said she was “disappointed” and had even been betrayed by Emmanuel Macron. who didn’t mention the hostages.
“He didn’t talk about the hostages in Gaza”
“When he met the hostage families, he looked me in the eye, he looked all of us in the eye and promised us that he would do everything in his power to help us. He told us that he would do his best for the French hostages,” recalls Hadas Kalderon on BFMTV.
“I’m really disappointed because he didn’t talk about the hostages in Gaza in this interview. He said nothing about her, as if he had forgotten us, as if it was no longer important.” She feels sorry for her mother.
“De facto – today civilians are being bombed – de facto. These babies, these ladies, these old people are being bombed and killed. So there is no reason or legitimacy for it. That is why we call on Israel to stop doing this,” estimated the French President in this interview, emphasizing the difference between the bloody Hamas attacks in Israel on October 7th and Palestinian civilians stuck in Gaza and under fire from the Israeli army.
Statements that did not please Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who then stressed that “responsibility for any harm inflicted on civilians lies with Hamas,” which uses civilians as “human shields.”
