Miranda Hobbes stunned Sex And The City fans around the world when she came out as queer in the first season of the 2021 reboot of And Just Like That….
The lawyer, played by Cynthia Nixon, cheated on her husband Steve with non-binary comedian Ché Diaz in what seemed like a validation of her sexuality.
And while the move shocked many, dedicated fans of the series will remember many references to her sexuality in the original series, with a story arc that includes her boss’s belief that she was queer and talk of a lesbian kiss in her youth.
Throughout these storylines, costume designer Patricia Field added an androgynous touch to her stylings, combining smart suits, smart shirts and ties with timings that hinted at the evolution of her sex life and tastes.
While Patricia didn’t manage to return to the style of “And Just Like That…,” history repeated itself on Thursday’s episode of the show, when Miranda appeared in a retro-ready chic suit that superfans took as a blast from the will recognize the past.
She is back! On Thursday’s episode of And Just Like That…, Miranda carried over her suiting style from the original series, in which she sported an androgynous look during crises in her sexuality
Head-turner: She got one of her most iconic suiting looks in 1998 in Season 1 Episode 3 called Bay of Married Pigs, when Miranda tries to get ahead in her law firm and lets her boss set her up with Syd – who’s also a woman.

Miranda’s first lesbian story came in 1998’s first season, episode three, entitled “Bay of Married Pigs,” when Miranda tries to get ahead in her law firm and lets her boss set her up with Syd – who turns out to be a woman.
The duo attend a dinner party at the boss’s house — pretending to be a couple — and as they leave, they attempt a kiss in the elevator, at which point Miranda pulls away, confirming, “Yeah, definitely straight.”
During the episode, Miranda again wears a suit look.
This time a black suit with a blue shirt and red tie that matched her red lip to add a feminine touch and contrast with her red hair.

Miranda says, “I was a big lesbian in fourth grade, Wendy Kirsten, we kissed, it was nice.” Later in the episode, she is seen in a fancy suit.
While her job as a lawyer certainly plays a role in her style, there’s no doubt that the androgynous style is linked to moments on the show where she opens up about her sexuality – which Thursday’s episode confirmed.

Patricia has spoken about Miranda’s styling in the past, saying in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, “Miranda was the least confident fashion character on Sex and the City because she had different values…”
“That was important because these characters had to be real, believable and identifiable. People often say, “She’s the worst dressed.”
“But that was her character. “As the series has gone on, we’ve gotten better and better at creating her look without sacrificing her integrity.”
In 2021, Patricia slammed Cynthia for her fashion claims when asked about the work of her former assistant Molly Rogers in styling the cast for HBO Max’s “And Just Like That.”
The Oscar nominee didn’t mince words when she admitted in a recent interview with The Sunday Times that she “liked some, but not all,” adding: “But I know what Molly’s struggling with “.

She doubled her voice and said, “I know those girls!” Sarah Jessica [Parker] thinks she knows everything – and she does. Cynthia Nixon thinks she knows everything – and she doesn’t! Even today, when I talk to Molly, it’s about Cynthia. I say, “I remember what you’re going through.”
Cynthia played the roles of Samantha Jones, Carrie Bradshaw and Charlotte York, respectively, in the original series Sex And The City alongside Kim Cattrall, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis.
Since hitting theaters in 1998, the series ran for six seasons with 94 episodes through 2004, returned for two films in 2008 and 2010, and made a comeback in 2021 with the reboot “And Just Like That…”.
