The representative from Puerto Rico had an excellent attendance throughout the competition activities en route to the finals of the 71st edition of the Miss Universe pageant, taking place Saturday night at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
And so, Ashley Ann Cariño made a great impression on her way through presentations, dinners, tourist visits and especially on the stage of the prelims that took place last Wednesday where she was dazzled in swimsuit and gala dress. Such was the case used by a jury to select the group of semi-finalists who will compete for the crown and who will be announced at the start of the final, which will be broadcast on the island at 21:00 by Wapa TV.
“Ashley looked magna, like the queen she is. Dynamic and solid on her swimsuit runway; imposing and radiant in her gala dress,” said Yizette Cifredo, director of the Miss Universe Puerto Rico franchise, who is accompanying the beauty queen in the contest seeking the sixth crown of this contest for the island.
“The entire team is proud of the wonderful work being done and all of Puerto Rico should feel the same. Our Queen puts her soul into every step she takes in competition and she undoubtedly makes Puerto Rico shine. We’re happy!” he added from New Orleans.

It should be noted that every time she got on the stage, she was one of the most applauded candidates.
It is unknown if Ashley will repeat this dress or wear a different one during the last competition.
In a subsequent broadcast on Wednesday evening, the typical costume contest took place, in which the Puerto Rican stood out with her emblematic costumes in homage to the Arecibo radio telescope. As an aerospace engineering student, Ashley wanted to showcase a suit that was innovative, futuristic and distinctive. The dowry had already attracted attention and he was chosen to take part in the carnival parade that took place on January 6th.
As part of the competition format, the jury that evaluated the candidates during the preliminary round will select the group of 15 semi-finalists who will be announced at the start of the closing gala. Those selected are joined by a delegate chosen by public vote.
