Julian Assange, the Wikileaks founder who remains in prison in England, will ask permission to leave Belmarsh Prison in south-east London and attend the funeral of British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, who died in London on Thursday at the age of 81 died. Vivienne Westwood died “peacefully surrounded by her family in Clapham, south London” today. The news was announced by the official social profiles of the British designer, considered the queen of punk style. (HAND)
The latter stressed that there is a personal relationship and a close bond between her husband and the “lady” of British fashion: they have known each other for over 10 years and Westwood has always been a supporter of Julian Assange and the work of Wikileaks.
“I know Julian would like to honor you,” Stella Assange said, explaining that her husband’s lawyer had been asked to submit a request. In fact, the rules do not preclude this, but the assessment is made on a case-by-case basis. However, prison spokesman Alan Selby told the BBC that the application is unlikely to be granted as permits are normally granted in the event of the death of close family members.
