As part of the Pretoria Peace Agreement signed in South Africa on November 2 between the Ethiopian government and the People’s Liberation Front of Tigray to end the armed conflict, the National Dialogue Commission, mediated by the African Union, is working to identify the differences between sectors of society .

Proclamation No. 1265/2021 confers powers on the Commission, which include defining workflows for the national dialogue process, selecting participants, setting the agenda and overseeing popular consultations currently taking place in the country.

Reconciliation, victim compensation, justice and other issues will be on the agenda of this process, which will bring lasting solutions to long-standing problems, said the chief commissioner of this commission, Mesfin Araya, during an interview with the Ethiopian Press Agency in March. over.
